Amsterdam Stag

My Dutch mates and I: Albert, Erik, Bas, Micha, Me, Peter Bob. These guys kidnapped me and took me out for a night on the town this past Saturday. Really, really, really, really great time. I took a ton of photos, however, most are not suitable for print.

Cool building in Amsterdam

Posted by Picasa

And here's a cool article about a problem only the Dutch could have! Viva la bike!

Really a Dutch Problem

From Reuters:

Dutch cyclists union ENFB has launched the first door-to-door route finder for bicycles, which is the result of a large volunteer project inspired by the collaborative Internet project Wikipedia.

One in every three trips in the Netherlands is done on a push bike and the country has thousands of bicycle lanes that are not accessible to cars. None of these bicycle lanes were known to navigation software or route finding devices.

"This is really a Dutch problem. Other countries have very few dedicated bike lanes and in those countries car route finders can be used by cyclists, too. But here in Holland, car route finders are unaware of the best cycle lanes," said Kees Bakker, project leader for the Dutch cycle route planner available here.

In recent months, dozens of volunteers have mapped all roads and cycle lanes in the central province of Utrecht which has 1.17 million citizens.

Ah, it begins.... The wedding magazines!

Trouwen in Dutch means marriage. In this pic, Renske is eyeing up a $5,000 dress (not really, that's just what's going through my mind - as you can see by my face). Posted by Picasa

Quick hop over the pond (Canada, UK)

I just got back to Amsterdam from a quick biz trip to Toronto. Was there for a week for company meetings that were very productive and a lot of fun. Besides talking biz stuff, there was also lots of laughs and cool activities such as golf, hiking, frisbee, poker, Mario Kart 64 (video game) and paintball. It turns out that the Vancouver dudes are REALLY good at paintball, although I still have this crazy bruise on my thigh from a paintball hit that is still healing. Thought of uploading a photo of the bruise, then thought better. The future of PSI looks good and I've never been more optimistic than I am now. Woo hoo!

Weekend in the UK

Flew from T.O. into Gatwick, London and stayed the weekend to hang out with the Booysen clan stationed there (you know who you all are!). Although completely jetlagged after JUST getting used to Eastern Standard Time, I still had a great time staying with C. & D. Booysen. These two managed to produce two beautiful, charming and thoroughly exhausting children. Just kidding! They are great kids and I had a great time "attempting" to keep up with their energy level. Below is a pic of the oldest K. (5), a future Astronaut, upon liftoff.

2.) No, we don't know if there'll be an open bar.
3.) Yes, it was GREGG who popped the question to Renske, not vice versa.
